Terms and Conditions



  1. Prior to any agreed activities I will conduct an initial visit so that I can meet your dog, discuss any specific requirements and talk through terms and conditions. This will allow me to tailor activities to the individual and ensure that both parties are happy with all arrangements.
  2. All terms and conditions will be deemed accepted and agreed by the owner on signing of the registration consent form.
  3. KDW will only accept dogs that are considered well socialized, who enjoy the company of other dogs and people. Please note not all dogs are suited.
  4. All new dogs will be taken on a trial basis.
  5. KDW reserves the right to refuse, or terminate the contract of any dog or owner who displays aggressive, destructive or unreasonable behaviour.
  6. All terms and conditions will be deemed accepted and agreed by the owner on signing of the registration form.
    IMPORTANT: You must provide me with the name and contact number of someone capable of making a decision relating to your dog in an emergency.
  7. If your dog becomes ill whilst in my care and my veterinary surgeon thinks the pet illness may be contagious KDW will contact you and ask that your emergency contact provide will take the into their care. The owners will have agreed with their chosen emergency contact before the pet comes into KDW’s care.
  8. In the unlikey event of your pet dying whilst in the care of KDW, it is KDW’s policy to store your pets remains in cold storage ar a local veterinary centre until your return. KDW will not inform you of the death of your pet whilst you are away, but if you would like to be informed of your pets death or would like different arrangements to be made in this unlikely event please inform KDW in writing prior to bringing your pet for boarding. Any costs incurred will be met by the owner.
  9. In the unlikely event of your dog being involved in an accident or in an emergency, I will take your dog to your vet.
    You are responsible for any emergency vet bills, no matter how incurred, whilst your dog is in the care of KDW. KDW will not accept responsibility for death, injury or illness of your dog that is deemed to be not my fault. You are strongly advised to insure your pet for all eventualities.
  10. A veterinary release form can be signed by the owner, thus giving permission for a veterinarian of your choice to treat your dog if needed, up to an amount stated by yourself (euthanasia is excluded).
  11. KDW is registered with a local 24hr vet; this will be used secondary to your vet.
  12. Owners are strongly advised to insure their dog for all eventualities.
  13. KDW has full public liability insurance.
  14. For day care & home boarding, all dogs must be fully vaccinated (or Titer test certificate), micro chipped, not in season and in good health (unless otherwise agreed) & regularly flea & worm treated. The owner accepts that even though their dog is vaccinated against Bordetella (Kennel Cough) there is a chance that their dog can still contract Kennel Cough. The owner agrees that they will not hold KDW responsible if their dog contracts Kennel Cough while attending
  15. KDW do not accept un-neutered male dogs (over the age of 12 months unless advised otherwise by your vet). Bitches that come into season will not be able to attend for the duration of their season, usually 2 to 3 weeks; KDW will not take responsibility for bitches that are still in season.   
  16. Those dogs as listed in the Dangerous Dogs (Amendment) Act 1997 e.g. the Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, Fila Brasileiro or wolf cross breeds cannot be accepted. 
  17. KDW will only accept dogs considered to be well socialized, who enjoy the company of other dogs and people. Please note that not all dogs are suitable.
  18. All new dogs will be taken on a trial basis.
  19. All dogs that attend Day care, a copy of their vaccination certificate is required. KDW will take one upon your dogs first visit. This must be updated every year upon your dog’s annual booster.
  20. All dogs that come for Home boarding must bring their up to date vaccination certificate with them for the duration iof their stay.
  21. KDW requires that all dogs attending day care and boarding will be on year round flea and worm prevention. While it is unlikely that your dog will get fleas while at day care, there is always a possibility anytime your dog is exposed to other animals. If your dog is on flea prevention and is exposed to a dog with fleas you won’t have to worry about having a problem at home, flea prevention is for your protection.
  22. As of 6th April 2016 all dogs are required by law to be microchipped.
  23. Owners must provide enough food for the duration of their stay.
  24. All bedding/blankets provided by owners must be in clean condition.
  25. If your dog requires medication while at day care or boarding KDW will need written consent from you for KDW to medicate them along with written instructions, all medicines need to be in there original packaging.
  26. KDW reserves the right to refuse, or terminate the contract of any dog or owner who displays aggressive, destructive or unreasonable behaviour. 
  27. Dogs must have a collar with a legal tag on to attend day care.
  28. Should your dog not be collected after its stay (without prior communication) it will be passed to the local dog warden.
  29. Written consent is required if you would like your dog to be walked off the lead.
  30. At KDW to main a high level of safety whilst unattended, dogs are crated. Your dog must be able to stay / sleep alone in a crate. Written consent is required from owners for dogs to sleep/rest in a crate.
  31.  All dogs in the care of KDW during home boarding will wear a KDW ID tag.
  32. At least one trial home boarding night is needed prior to booking a longer home boarding session, this is to make sure your dog settles and is happy. Happy dog, happy owner, happy carer.
  33. A 20% deposit is required for home boarding to secure place. I will not be able to guarantee your place until this is paid. This is for block bookings of a week or more. If cancelled with 28 days or less notice your deposit will not be refunded.
  34. Dogs will be walked in all weather conditions but KDW will assess the situation if a walk needs to be cut short due to adverse weather conditions that could comprise the safety of both dogs and walkers.

 

  35. LOST DOG ESCALLATION

Initial:   In the event of a runaway/lost dog, KDW will secure remaining dogs currently under care before attempting to locate the dog.

 

After 30 mins: Contact the owner and explain the situation giving locations and times. Ask owner/emergency contact to join search as soon as possible.

 

30 mins-1hr:  Engage further help and widen the search. Inform residents, public and hand out KDW contact cards.

 

After 1hr:  Report missing dog with full description and details of location to local vets and social media. Remain in close contact with owner.

 

1+ day: Place local adverts, posters and use social media. Inform local authorities. Remain in very close contact with owners.
